| The Latest from Allan Kelly's Blog | MORE | | Hard-Core Scrum, Common Scrum and Scrum (continued) think the point is well made by Christin Gorman in her 10 minute video on Vimeo from the Roots conference - “Putting an architect in a Scrum team is like putting mayonnaise in a cake.” sympathise deeply Christin’s point at the end of the video, if I may paraphrase: “lets save Scrum to mean what it was meant to mean”. Since I published Scrum, Scrum and Scrum on this blog last week the piece has received a lot of attention and I’ve had a lot of feedback: comments on the blog, comments on Twitter and comments to me in person at Oredev last week. Allan Kelly's Blog - Sunday, November 13, 2011 | | The Best from Allan Kelly's Blog | MORE | | Reverse-Tolstoy, or Tolstoy reconsidered When a company saves money on projectors, teleconferences kit, video conference kit, etc. Rather famously Tolstoy started Anna Korenina with the words: “Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.” I like many others have repeated this quote, and even applied it to business and, in particular the act of creating software. think, although I dread to check now, that I even open one of the chapters of Changing Software Development with the quote. video version of this will be available in the near future. In the last few weeks Michael Barritt of Oxford Innovation and myself have presented several versions of “ Agile in Cornwall ” - a case study of our work introducing Agile to companies in Cornwall. All three versions of this Agile case study presentation are now on my website. recommend the latest two version - Agile Business Conference and Agile Cambridge. The version from Agile on the Beach in Cornwall was supported with presentations from two of the companies concerned - Research Instruments and Sullivan Cuff Software. Allan Kelly's Blog - Sunday, October 16, 2011 - Moving pictures (of me!)
Alexey and the other cunning minds in Kiev have decided to put the speakers on video. The next few weeks contains more conference for me than is healthy. While most of these are in London ( Jax and IIBA BA conferences next week and Agile Business Conference the week after), or just up the road ( Agile Cambridge ), the interesting one is Agile Eastern Europe in Kiev the week after next. He’s my bit, explaining why you should come to my talk on the role of the Business Analyst. Should be interesting. Interestna, as they say. Allan Kelly's Blog - Thursday, September 23, 2010 - Slides from Skills Matter - BA Role in Agile Software Development
Slides are now online on SlideShare and Skills Matter have a video of the event online too I presented my “BA Role in Agile Software Development” talk at Skills Matter last night. There was a good turnout and the folks who came to the pub afterwards were all very positive about the talk. The talk had a few small updates from its previous deliveries so if you’ve heard or seen it before there won’t be anything new for you. Allan Kelly's Blog - Friday, July 23, 2010 - Pattern writing in Sofia
We made the class very practical, no PowerPoint, in fact apart from a 5 minute video it was computer free. For this we used a video about milk packaging from TetraPak, there is an English version on You Tube , as it happens we used the short German version but it was the pictures not the words which were important. After watching this we did some brainstorming to identify what was happening in the video, i.e. what solutions were being used to solve which problems. Continuing about patterns. And then we repeated the exercise with different subject material. Allan Kelly's Blog - Monday, November 23, 2009 - Websites are getting worse
We have lived with bad software interface design in video recorders and microwave ovens for years but as more or more companies add web sales channels we are increasingly confronted with bad web interface design. Time was when the software was just in your PC. Now it is everywhere - and I'm not even talking about the embedded stuff that you don't see - like the engine control system in modern cars. We see software everywhere - well not quite everywhere I believe there are many more opportunities to make it omnipresent. For example, late last year we decided to go skiing for New Year. Allan Kelly's Blog - Monday, January 9, 2006 - Reprise: Why does everyone write their own CMS? (and the New ACCU website)
But content also includes sound recordings, video recording and just about anything that can be digitised. It is increasingly possible to create text, videos, sounds, whatever, and use that in multiple places. Back in November I agonised about this question. Well, things have moved on and I’ve had the chance to think about the question. At the time I was grappling with 2 websites - both with proprietary CMS technology. Shortly afterwards, wearing my ACCU hat, we took the decision to dump the sub-contractor and their CMS technology. Still, I think I’ve started to understand why. 'Index: Getting started with AngularJS Creating an AngularJS Controller The #AngularJS $scope is not the MVC Model In the previous post I showed how to create and use an MVC Controller in AngularJS to manage the logic of an application. | The Best from DevelopMentor | MORE | - HTML5 Video
Video has always been a difficult thing on the web. After all you just add a video element, set the source and you are good to go right? If you create a page like this: HTML5 Video demo. video. {. < video poster ="[link]. autoplay > HTML5 Video element not supported. However when I open the page in Internet Exporer 9 or FireFox we get this: The video element loads the movie poster but it doesn’t start playing. And that even though according to CanIUse.com the video element is supported on the current version of Safari I am running. The Problem Solver - Tuesday, December 13, 2011 - Access Control Service: Walkthrough Videos of Web Application, SOAP, REST and Silverlight Integration
Instead of writing it all down, I decided to quickly record four short videos that cover the relevant features and code. This video does a quick walkthrough of the solution and shows the web application part. This video shows how to wire up the service to ACS and hows how to create a client that first requests a token from an IdP and then sends this token to ACS. Over the weekend I worked a little more on my ACS2 sample. Have fun ;). Part 1 – Overview. This includes driving the sign in UI via JavaScript (thanks Matias) as well as the registration logic I wrote about here. www.leastprivilege.com - Tuesday, May 24, 2011 - HTML5 Presentatie slides en demo
