In this post, we will look at the IUIVisualizer , and bring together some of the concepts we’ve talked about already through a new sample – a simple picture viewer: The application grabs all the images from the user’s photo folder and then displays each one onto the surface of a corkboard. You can change the properties of an image, remove an image or add additional images. It provides drag support through a behavior on the style. par ?? Mark's Blog of Random Thoughts - Friday, February 5, 2010 Using Rx (Linq to Events) with WPF My original approach was to take my favorite exploration tool, reflector (available for free from www.redgate.com ), and disassemble all the classes into C#, placing them into a project file. A recent series of blog entries at [link] introduced the Rx framework (System.Reactive.dll) which is an assembly used in the Silverlight toolkit for UI testing purposes. It essentially provides a mechanism to do event driven programming through LINQ. I'll refer you to the blog referenced above for all the gory details - frankly I'm still trying to wrap my mind around it! y.ver 2:0:5:0. }. Mark's Blog of Random Thoughts - Monday, August 3, 2009 Adding ILDasm to VS.NET with a keyboard shortcut I often show students in my classes how to add ILDasm to their tools menu - it's handy because you can then click on ILDasm and it will open the current module allowing you to look at the manifest, IL, etc. Select Tools | External Tools. You’ll get the tools dialog: 2. You should now be able to access Tools | ILDASM. It turns out to be really simple -- go to Tools | Options and select Keyboard. Mark's Blog of Random Thoughts - Friday, February 5, 2010 Cheating on my computer. She's not really into technology or computers; she'd much rather have a conversation with someone or meet face to face than to use email as a communication tool. I feel like I've committed adultery. I've gone and purchased a Mac-Mini. pushed my wife to get into email and the Internet. kept espousing the value of email, how easy it is to keep in touch, how quick it is, how you can search for things on the Internet. She finally bit the bullet and started using Windows XP on an old computer we had. That's when the trouble started. First it was the Internet connection itself. Enter the Mac. Mark's Blog of Random Thoughts - Thursday, August 25, 2005 | - Rotor (SSCLI) Version 2.0 is now out!
Rotor is an incredible tool for learning about how and why the CLR works the way it does. Great news! For more info -- [link - Platform type observations.
For those who are interested in this aspect, there is a tool in the SDK (CORFLAGS.EXE) that will let you manipulate this flag and force an ILONLY assembly to be loaded as 32-bit. Recently someone informed me that the TAPI wrappers (ITAPI3 and ATAPI) do not appear to function properly on the Win64 platform. It throws an exception that says: "Could not load file or assembly 'ITapi3, Version=1.0.0.3, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=36377d9f6f1f4883' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.". There are actually two 2.x - Moving Work Items from one Team Project to another
The tool will attempt to match up the iteration to a value in the new project - if it cannot, it will default to the first iteration available. I was having lunch with an associate a while back and he mentioned a need to move a work item from one team project to another. While there isn't any direct support for this from the Team Explorer interface, I figured it couldn't be too hard to manipulate the underlying database and achieve the results - it's just SQL Server right? hadn't actually looked at the schema mind you, I'm an optimist. It's just a console application but it does the job. - Fixing SVCUTIL.EXE for Orcas Beta 2
Microsoft apparently didn't resign all the tools in the SDK supplied with Beta 2 of Visual Studio 2008. This is actually documented in the readme that UISpy has this issue, which of course, I didn't read. SVCUtil.exe also has this problem and it causes any proxy-generation from VS.NET 2008 to fail (as well as killing the client tester process which is spawned for WCF testing). You'll know you've hit this error when the program crashes with a "System.IO.FileException" and indicates that it has failed strong-name validation. It's easy enough to fix. 3) execute "SN -Vr svcutil.exe". - Adding ILDasm to VS.NET with a keyboard shortcut

| The Latest from DevelopMentor | MORE | | Agile Clinic: Dear Allan, we have a little problem with Agile. m no fan of Jira, or any other electronic tool but most team use one so nothing odd so far. 'Consider this blog an Agile Clinic. On Friday an e-mail dropped into my mailbox asking if I could help. The sender has graciously agreed to let me share the mail and my advice with you, all anonymously of course… The sender is new to the team, new to the company, they are developing a custom web app for a client, i.e. they are an ESP or consultancy. the Developers work in sprints, estimating tasks in JIRA as they go. Sprints last three weeks, including planning, development and testing. Yikes! The lack of management tools was hurting MongoDB’s adoption in the early days. The news is good. Michael C. Kennedy's Weblog - Monday, April 22, 2013 Requirements and Specifications Having worked through this I conclude that BDD is an excellent specification tool. Now, while BDD and SbE may well give Developers first class specification tools these tools should not be mistaken for requirements tools and shouldn’t be used as such. 'As I was saying in my last blog, I’m preparing for a talk at Skills Matter entitled: “Business Analyst, Product Manager, Product Owner, Spy!” which I should just have entitled it “Requirements: Whose job are they anyway?” and so I’ve been giving a lot of thought to requirements. So I turned to my bookshelves…. nothing. Allan Kelly's Blog - Monday, April 15, 2013 | -
| The Best from DevelopMentor | MORE | - Building Windows Machines in Amazon EC2
All information, source code, and especially tools are provided as is and on a "use at your own risk" basis. Tags: Articles Tools In this article I'm going to give you a simple, step-by-step overview of how to create a Windows 2008 server image in Amazon's Elastic Cloud Compute (EC2) infrastructure. Now I must admit I'd rather have found a good tutorial on The Internets or even in a book. Feel free to send me any I missed. My experience is they are either dated or about Linux and so on. First, briefly why does one care about EC2? Here we go. Create an Account. Enable EC2 Features. Michael C. Kennedy's Weblog - Saturday, January 30, 2010 - Gmail New Mail Notifications for Windows 7
No matter how I try, I always get this: It's insane to me that $130B company can't provide any more than this outdated tool for this job, but I digress. Also thanks goes to Ryan Cook for use of his Gmail C# tools as the basis for part of my project. The NoSQL movement asks the question: “Is the relational database (RDBMS) always the right tool for data storage and data access?”. You may have to run a transformation tool if you’re making radical data changes, but that’s true in SQL systems as well. To get started, download MongoDB the tools and server here: [link]. Generally I look down upon that sort of development, but for an admin tool it’s just fine. All information, source code, and especially tools are provided as is and on a "use at your own risk" basis.
