In this module, we&aposll learn about how to use the new engine and library, with a focus on the integration between WF and WCF. WCF REST REST is another architectural style for building services ? often also called RESTful services. REST embraces HTTP as an application protocol and uses URIs to address pieces of functionality in a service. which allows building RESTful services with an easy to use API. And finally, we&aposll learn the fundamentals of REST, as well as why and when RESTful services make sense. Starting with.NET 3.5, DevelopMentor Courses - Tuesday, March 1, 2011

Use PFx as a unifying library for all your multithreading needs. Create REST based services based on the WCF and ASP.NET stacks. Learn to write code using new.NET class libraries like PFx. How can I make sure people use my libraries correctly? However, over time the scope of the library has grown significantly such that it will become the main model for building asynchronous code. PFx finally brings to the library a set of richer primitives such as lazy initialization, a lightweight semaphore and a countdown event. Join Me at Guerrilla.NET in November
Learn to write code using new.NET class libraries like Entity Framework 5, MVC 4, and even the new Windows Runtime (WinRT). Building RESTful Services with The ASP.NET Web API. Just a quick announcement for an developer upcoming event I’ll be participating in… Early November I’ll be co-teaching DevelopMentor’s biggest.NET developer event of the year in Los Angeles: Guerrilla.NET. If you haven’t been to Guerrilla.NET, it’s a very unique and memorable event – it’s unlike almost any other training class you’ve seen. mkennedy. Michael C. ASP.NET WebAPI Security 3: Extensible Authentication Framework
In the rest of the post I am outlining some of the bits and pieces, So you know what you are dealing with, in case you want to try the code. username, password) => username == password); You simply have to provide a password validation function which could of course point back to your existing password library or e.g. membership. In my last post, I described the identity architecture of ASP.NET Web API. The short version was, that Web API (beta 1) does not really have an authentication system on its own, but inherits the client security context from its host. - Digging into WCF REST
Last Thursday evening I presented a talk to the Dallas.NET User Group on support in WCF 4 for building REST-ful services. Here is a summary of the talk: To REST or Not To REST? Building REST-ful Services with the WCF Web Programming Model REST is defined as an architectural style for building services that embrace the principles of the web. Tony will provide concrete examples of where it makes sense to implement REST-ful web services. and Visual Studio 2010, folding in features we first saw in the REST Starter Kit, which is now largely obsolete.

- How to data bind to collections using Knockout.js
library. In this post I am going to show how easy it is to load a collection of items from a REST service and data bind to the complete collection. have included a WCF Web API REST service here and the jQuery.getJSON() function makes it rather easy to consume the REST service with a few lines of code. - Thinktecture.IdentityModel: WIF Support for WCF REST Services and OData
The latest drop of Thinktecture.IdentityModel includes plumbing and support for WIF, claims and tokens for WCF REST services and Data Server (aka OData). Cibrax has an alternative implementation that uses the WCF Rest Starter Kit. His recent post reminded me that I should finally “document” that part of our library. This sample is also included in the codeplex download along a similar sample for plain WCF REST services. Features include: generic plumbing for all WebServiceHost derived WCF services. support for SAML and SWT tokens. Setting up the Data Service.

- Article: Azure Storage
At the base level all access to Azure Storage uses pure REST APIs. Thus, a sample library serves as the de facto.NET API to Azure Storage and ships with the Azure SDK. We will examine working with each of the storage services from the perspective of the StorageClient library - but keep in mind that ultimately this library is a wrapper around a basic and open RESTful API. First we'll define a client-side schema for our entry by creating a class called Contributor which derives from the class TableStorageEntity (from the StorageClient library). Enjoy!

- Build a Multi-Project Visual Studio Template
Here is an example of a VSTemplate file I created for a Multi-Project WCF REST Template I recently did for a talk I gave at a.NET developer group (some of the content has been elided for clarity). For my WCF REST template I wanted the Client and Service projects to both reference the Entities project, and for the Web project to reference the Service project. Start by creating a class library project and referencing the assembly, Microsoft.VisualStudio.TemplateWizardInterface.dll. Download the code for this article here. This is where the IWizard project comes in. Enjoy.
