| The Latest from Allan Kelly's Blog | MORE | | Requirements, requirements everywhere; no clue on what to do Once you have something up and running - even in demo - what people think they want will change. Twice this year I have visited companies which want to try a more Agile way of working but who have requirements coming of their ears. m talking hundreds of pages of requirements. Sometimes as use cases and scenarios. Sometimes as big meat documents written by expensive consultants and bearing names like “Requirements Specification” or “Business Design.” Its hard to argue with such requirements documents, in part because its hard to read them and understand what they are about. Allan Kelly's Blog - Friday, December 4, 2009 Making sense of Kanban (and some doubts) For example, I’ve been telling teams for a while to think management by routine, the drum beats you have a planning meeting, a drum beats again and you do a demo, and so on, it all happens in a predictable fashion. As regular readers will know I’m a fan of the Kanban software development process championed by David Anderson. However it has to be said that the jury is still out on Kanban. ve come to the conclusion that one of the dangers with Kanban is actually one of the reasons I like it. Kanban raises the importance of understanding and creating a learning organization. Let me explain. Allan Kelly's Blog - Tuesday, March 3, 2009 Agile failure modes - again And improved quality means you can deliver (or just demo) any time. Back in April and May I discussed failure modes in Agile software development. Well I’ve found another. That is to say I’ve found another way in which an Agile development practise can go wrong. ve seen this before but I didn’t recognise it as a failure mode, I saw it as a little local difficulty now I’ve seen it a second time I understand it a bit better. The trouble with this failure is that at first it looks a lot like what should be happening. One of the core ideas behind Lean and Agile is improving quality of code. Allan Kelly's Blog - Friday, December 4, 2009 An organization mapping exercise In effect, it was a demo of how you might go about mapping the interactions in your team. Last night I ran an organizational mapping exercise at the Extreme Tuesday Club. What, you may ask is that? Well, I learnt the technique from observing Jim Coplien apply it. Jim and Neil Harrison have been running these workshops for some years, their aim was to better understand development organizations and produce the patterns in their book “Organizational Patterns for Agile Software Development.” This is a very powerful technique. Anyway, that is something else. So, what did I learn form this? 'Index: Getting started with AngularJS Creating an AngularJS Controller The AngularJS $scope is not the MVC Model Using repeating elements in AngularJS Filtering the data in an AngularJS ngRepeat element Showing a list of items like in the previous post is nice but if the list is large most users appreciate the possibility to search in it. Turns out that AngularJS has that already build in so it is really simple to do. We are using exactly the same controller as before, all it contains is a list of people. 1: function DemoCtrl($scope) {. 14: ]; 15: }. The Problem Solver - Monday, May 13, 2013 Using repeating elements in #AngularJS The markup to generate the list in the screenshot is also real simple: 1: 2: 3: 4: AngularJS Demo. 1: 2: 3: 4: AngularJS Demo. 'Index: Getting started with AngularJS Creating an AngularJS Controller The AngularJS $scope is not the MVC Model Using repeating elements in #AngularJS In the previous posts I showed how to get started with AngularJS and use some of the basic AngularJS directives to data bind. In these examples I uses a really simple single element to bind to. However in lots of business cases you really need to display a list of repeating elements. 14: ]; 15: }. The Problem Solver - Friday, May 10, 2013 The #AngularJS $scope is not the MVC Model The corrected view is now: 1: 2: 3: 4: AngularJS Demo. 'Index: Getting started with AngularJS Creating an AngularJS Controller The #AngularJS $scope is not the MVC Model In the previous post I showed how to create and use an MVC Controller in AngularJS to manage the logic of an application. In this post I showed how to use the $scope variable that is passed into the Controller to share data between the Controller and the View. This may lead you to believe that the $scope is the MVC Model used but you would be completely wrong. Now that sounds awfully like a model but it isn’t. 13: *. They usually expire on the very day where you have to do an important demo. I often need X509 certificates - but I never really became friendly with makecert. So I ended up running Windows Cerificate Services which proved to be an easy to use, robust solution. You can have one at home or carry it around in a VM. Perfect. There are some gotchas you can run into and I refined my configuration over the years. just had to rebuild my Test CA (on Hyper-V) so I thought I'll document the important steps (for self-reference and whoever might be interested).
