A tale of two conferences (Lean & BA)
Actually, although I was officially attending, and speaking at, the BA conference I actually attended several sessions at the Business Process Management (BPM) conference. Although I was a little unsure how I would be received by the Business Analysis community I need to report the reception was very positive. I was talking about Agile and I found that most Business Analysts were both interested I spent the first part of the week attending the UK Lean conference swiftly followed by the IRM BA conference. Presentation to BCS and IIBA in Cambridge online
I spoke at a combined meeting of the British Computer Society (BCS) Cambridge branch, International Institute of Business Analysts and Cambridge Assessment on Wednesday night. It was an enjoyable night, Paul is a long term Business Analyst who used his presentation to describe the role of business analysis in an Agile development cycle, and I used my session to explain why Agile works better with some Business Analysts or Product Managers involved. Actually I was only one half of the act, Paul Turner was the other half. Download

Speaking in Cambridge: BCS, IIBA and Cambridge Examination
This is a join event between: the British Computer Society, Cambridge Examinations and the International Institute of Business Analysts. To be honest, I’m a little intimidated by these three heavy weight organizations, they are all quite serious… The subject is the role of Business Analysts in Agile development. I’ve entitled my bit “Agile Practices go better with Business Analysis.” I’m speaking in Cambridge at the end of the month – evening of 30 April to be exact. I believe the event is open to all comers more details at: Cambridge Assessment

Q&A: Where do testers fit in?
The deeper problem is often that nobody pro-actively owns the business need. In most organizations this person goes by the name of is a Business Analyst, Product Manager, Product Owner (in Scrum) or even Project Manager. User Acceptence Testing (UAT) Performed by Software Testers and Business Analysts, and/or Customer representatives. I got the following question in my mail box a few days ago: “I was reading the Powerpoint deck you prepared for the East Anglia Branch of the BCS and wondered what your thoughts were around Testing. How should testers tackle
